Waste sorting at home in holiday homes

In the spring of 2026, those with holiday homes in Karlstad can start sorting their waste at their holiday homes. There will be three bins at your holiday home that will help you easily sort packaging made of paper, plastic, glass and metal. You will receive these three new bins in the spring or early summer of 2026. It's important that your current bin is standing by your property line so we can replace it.

The aim is to make it easier for you to sort your packaging waste. By sorting this way, we keep mixed packaging out of residual waste and increase the amount of packaging that can be recycled. Waste sorting at home is a national decision taken by the Swedish parliament, which states that everyone throughout Sweden should be able to sort their packaging at home by 2027 regardless of where or how they live.
